My name is Rosalynd Volheim (formerly Wasilco up until this year), and this is my 9th year teaching. This year marks my 8th year at Blackford. Prior to teaching 4th grade the last two years, I taught 3rd grade for 4 years, then became Blackford's Equity Coach for 2 years. I am thrilled to be back in 4th grade this year!

I earned my Bachelors of Science as well as my Elementary Teaching Credential from Cal Poly SLO, and my MA in Curriculum & Instruction (with an emphasis on literacy from San Jose State University. I earned by Reading Specialist Credential alongside my Masters Degree. My professional passion lies in literacy...I believe in fostering every student's love for reading and writing and empowering students to use writing as a tool to help them find their voice. Literacy is the foundation to life skills and is transferable to any future that my students choose for themselves. I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of helping my students develop that foundation for their futures.

When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with family and friends. I recently got married and my husband and I have 1 dog, Bailey. I also have an older sister and younger brother. We were all born and raised in Auburn, so I love to go back and visit. I also enjoy traveling, running, yoga, going to Lake Tahoe, and relaxing with a good book.
